Schedule Changes
Student Schedule Change Information
Please carefully review the information below before submitting any form. There are two different processes available depending on the type of concern.
Schedule Error Review Form
This form will be open from August 3rd through August 14th.
Students who believe their schedule contains an error may submit a Schedule Review Form. This form is only for the following situations:
- You have already completed a course on your schedule.
- A course appears on your schedule more than once.
- A course is not in its proper sequence within your program progression.
- You have not completed a required prerequisite for a scheduled course.
This form is not for schedule preferences, teacher requests, lunch requests, elective changes, or requests to move classes to a different period.
What Happens Next?
School Counselors will review submissions and determine whether a schedule correction is needed based on graduation requirements, academic progression, and scheduling guidelines.
Schedule Review Form
Schedule Change Request Form
This form will open after school on August 11th and close after school on August 13th.
Before You Submit
Boone High School's master schedule is built to support the academic needs, graduation requirements, academy pathways, and course requests of more than 2,700 students. As a result, flexibility is limited and available seats may be scarce across many courses and class periods. Before submitting your request, please ensure you review Current Course Availability to guide your requests.
The availability list reflects courses with known openings at the time it is published. However, course availability can change quickly as requests are processed and seats are filled.
Schedule Change Requests are most successful when they support:
- Graduation requirements
- Academic progression
- Academy requirements
- Postsecondary and career goals
- Prerequisite completion
- Available course openings
Important Information:
- Course changes are not guaranteed
- The master schedule is extremely tight and available seats are very limited
- Many fine arts courses are already full and will likely remain full
- Submitting a request does not reserve a seat
- Students may submit only one form
- Students may include up to five schedule change requests in a single submission
Students requesting the same course may receive different outcomes. For example, a course may have space during one class period but not another, or seat availability may change between the time requests are reviewed. Additionally, a student's graduation, academy, or academic requirements may impact whether a schedule change can be made.
Students will receive an automated email after their request has been reviewed and processed.
Once a schedule change has been made, there may be limited ability to reverse or undo that change, as the vacated seat may quickly become occupied by another student.
A request does not reserve a seat and does not guarantee a schedule change.
Requests With Limited Opportunity for Approval
Because available seats are limited throughout the schedule, requests based primarily on a preferred teacher, preferred lunch period, being scheduled with friends, convenience, or personal preference are often not able to be accommodated.
Advanced Studies (AP & AICE) Course Add/Drop Information
Boone High School is committed to providing students with access to rigorous coursework that supports their academic abilities, postsecondary goals, and future aspirations. Students are scheduled into AP and AICE courses based on course requests, prior academic performance, and readiness for advanced studies.
Initial Add/Drop Window
Students wishing to drop an AP or AICE course should follow the standard schedule change procedures and timelines outlined above.
Progress Report 1 Add/Drop Window
Following the conclusion of the regular add/drop period, a second AP and AICE course drop window will open after Progress Report 1 grades are released.
This additional opportunity allows students and families to review academic progress early in the semester before Report Card 1 grades are finalized. Since progress report grades do not appear on the student's official transcript, families may use this information to evaluate whether an advanced course remains the best fit for the student's academic goals and performance.
Specific dates and procedures for this second drop window will be communicated when Progress Report 1 grades become available.
Semester Commitment
After the Progress Report 1 add/drop window closes, students are expected to remain enrolled in their AP and AICE courses for the remainder of the semester.
Requests to withdraw after this deadline will generally not be considered except in exceptional circumstances. Students and families should also be aware that dropping an AP or AICE course after AP or Cambridge examination orders have been submitted may result in a cancelled exam order fee, which may be assessed to the student.
Important Reminder
Students should carefully consider any request to leave an AP or AICE course. Schedule changes remain dependent upon course availability, graduation requirements, academic progression, and overall master schedule constraints. As with all schedule requests, submission of a request does not guarantee that a change will be possible.
