Principal's Message

Welcome from Dr. Hector Maestre, our Principal!

Dr. Maestre

This week we have modified bell schedules on Tuesday for our second Resiliency Day of 2024-2025 followed on Wednesday for a testing infrastructure trial.

Beginning in 2019-2020, every Florida public school is required to provide students in grades 6-12 at least five hours of mental health instruction each year (updated to Resiliency Education, Civic and Character Education, and Life Skills Education.) In addition to the required instruction on Resiliency Day, we will be celebrating resiliency by hosting a block party in the courtyard during both lunches. Families are able to access all student materials related to Resiliency Day through the Canvas app in the OCPS Parent Portal, and more information is available on the Mental Health Services Parent Resources website. Please contact Camille Layton at [email protected] with any questions.

The infrastructure trial on Wednesday reserves time for all students to log on to their computers and check the testing system, which helps make sure everything will run smoothly once testing season is upon us in the spring. Please encourage your student to make sure their computer is fully charged the night before!

As for this week's Totem Talk, we do have several important reminders and announcements to share with the community. Thank you for reading and have a great week!
