It is National Assistant Principal Week! Please join us in honoring our four incredible assistant principals who play a crucial role in creating a positive and nurturing learning environment for our students. Mr. Daniel Abalo, Ms. Denine Brown, Dr. Timothy Flynn, and Ms. Kristen Gillespie work hand in hand with our Boone teachers, staff, students, and parents to ensure that BHS runs smoothly and that every one of our Braves has the opportunity to succeed. Thank you for being part of of BHS and for your excellent service each and every school day.
As we move through the last 2 months of the school year, it is very important that everyone fully engages in their course work and comes to school prepared for upcoming assessments:
- April 7: School Day ACT (all juniors)
- April 27-30: Senior Common Final Exams
- May 4: FAST PM3 (all 9th and 10th grade students and 11th and 12th grade students who still need the reading score for graduation)
- May 6: BEST Algebra 1 and Geometry EOCs
- May 12: Biology and U.S. History EOCs
- May 18-21: Underclassmen Common Final Exams
I know that our teachers have solid review plans in place to ensure our students do their absolute best on all of these assessments. Please consider joining us on Wednesday, April 8, for Brave Connections (information below). This will give you an opportunity to meet with your student's teachers to ensure they have an academic plan in place for the final quarter. Finish strong Braves!
As always, thank you for reading!
Forever Brave,
Hector Maestre, Ed.D.

The 2024–2025 school year was an outstanding one for our Advanced Placement program, with 469 students earning AP Scholar recognition. This accomplishment reflects the dedication of our students, the guidance of our teachers, and the strong support of our school community.

Boone High School families are invited to attend Brave Connections, a parent-teacher conference event designed to support student success and strengthen school-family partnerships. Brave Connections will take place on Wednesday, April 8, with check-in beginning at 12:45 PM in the main office and teachers available starting at 1:20 PM. Families will have the opportunity to meet directly with teachers, review academic progress, and discuss strategies to help students finish the school year strong.
As the final quarter begins, Boone High School continues to proactively support students who may need additional academic assistance. All students identified as being at risk of not passing a course received a notification on Friday, April 3rd, and families are encouraged to partner with the school to address any concerns. Students are also encouraged to connect with their school counselor for additional guidance, and families with questions about summer school options may contact Ms. Gillespie, kristen.joyner@ocps.net, or Mr. Abalo, daniel.abalo@ocps.net. Boone High School looks forward to partnering with families through Brave Connections to support student achievement. Forever Brave!

What an unforgettable showing from our team at the Battle of the Books competition at the Orlando Public Library! Our students brought unstoppable energy, sharp insight, and a deep love of reading to every round. They tackled challenging questions with confidence, collaborated seamlessly under pressure, and impressed everyone with their mastery of this year’s titles. Their enthusiasm lit up the room, and their hard‑earned success is something our whole school community can cheer for. Congratulations to our incredible team - you made this year’s competition truly shine.
