Message from Dr. Maestre

What a great a first week of school! The support we have received from our families, PTSO, and partners leading up to day one has been greatly appreciated. Our teachers, counselors, coaches, and staff have also been incredible working steadily up to this point for several weeks now. And after five days, our Braves are settling in to our routines, learning about OCPS Code of Student Conduct policies, and engaging in their classes very well.

Looking ahead, students will have an opportunity this week to participate in our annual Club Rush. One of the best ways to build success in high school is to be involved. Studies show that students who are involved in extracurricular activities perform better, academically, in school than students who are not involved in extracurricular activities. Moreover, this is a great way to make friends and get better connected as part of the high school experience. Opportunities at Boone include athletic programs, clubs, and organizations for students throughout the year. We believe there is something of interest for all of our Braves. Prior to Club Rush (August 19-20), if you are interested in learning about any of these opportunities, please visit our athletics and clubs tabs located on the Boone High School website.

As we begin this second week of school, here's to a year filled with curiosity, growth, and remarkable achievements. If week number one is any indication of what lies ahead for our Braves, then 2025-2026 will be a most inspiring and successful school year!

Forever Brave,

Hector Maestre, Ed.D.
Principal

Week 1 Was a Success!

What an incredible first day of school at Boone! Our pep rallies were packed with energy, school spirit, and plenty of smiles. Every student proudly received their Boone Brave grade-level t-shirt — thank you to all the amazing volunteers who helped hand them out!

If your student did not get a shirt today, please stop by Student Services to pick one up.

What a GREAT day to be a Boone Brave — here’s to making this our best year yet!

Join the Boone High School SAC

Please join us for our first SAC Meeting of the 2025-2026 school year! We will meet in the Media Center at 5:30 PM. You will be able to enter campus through the gate between the Performing Arts Center and the 1000 building.

The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a team of people representing various segments of the community – the principal, teachers, education support employees, students, parents, and other business and community citizens. A majority of the members of each school advisory council must be persons who are not employed by the school district. The SAC serves as a voice for school improvement by assisting the principal in preparing and evaluating the School Improvement Plan (SIP) and providing input on the school's budget. Council members representing teachers, education support employees, students, and parents are elected by their respective peer group, and business and community members are selected to ensure representation of the ethnic, racial, and economic community served by the school. The SAC plays a crucial role in fostering continuous improvement and ensuring that the school's decisions reflect the needs of all stakeholders.
