Before Homecoming took place, the student body took its spirit to the streets on October 23, in the preceding parade. The event brought current students, staff and local residents together to collectively celebrate school tradition. “I enjoyed seeing everyone support one another,” freshman Lilly Trimble said. “It was my first Homecoming Parade and [it] exceeded my expectations.”
The parade also acted as an opportunity to showcase student creativity. Posters and floats were handmade and used to differentiate which groups students were walking for. Besides showing off student art, they highlighted the official Homecoming Court, clubs and sports teams.
“It was fun to see the different designs,” junior Addison Allman said. “You can tell a lot of effort was put into making them.”
Parents and peers stood on sidewalks, getting to share the experience as they cheered on students riding down the neighborhood. “It made me feel appreciated knowing they came to support me,” junior Mya Pugh said. The Homecoming Parade serves as a portrayal of student dedication. While the parade marks the end of the Homecoming season, the celebrations continue throughout the year.
