Message From Dr. Maestre

I want to start this week's Totem Talk with a huge THANK YOU to our entire custodial crew (pictured above) for all they do to keep our campus clean and safe for all of our students and staffulty! They work incredibly hard everyday and we appreciate everything they do.

This past Friday was so much fun with our first Connectivity Day! Be sure to check out the pictures below of just a few activities that were hosted around campus. It was a great way for students to have fun, be engaged, and get connected!

Orange County Public Schools invites all families to participate in the Fall 2025 Stakeholder Survey. Your participation is important because the results will be used as we work to ensure our families’ experiences align with our core values. We appreciate your participation! Click here to complete the survey.

This Monday begins our final week of the 1st nine-week quarter. Please remember that there will be no school for students on Monday, October 13. Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 14.

I know our Braves will make the most of this final week of the quarter. Take advantage of every instructional day and have a great week!

As always, thank you for reading!

Forever Brave,

Dr. Maestre
Principal

Connectivity Day

October 3, was our first Connectivity Day of the year and students had a great time engaging in fun activities across the campus. They were able to choose from nearly 90 activities that matched their interests to connect with other students. Thank you to all of our teachers for doing a great job putting the activities together!

We will host a Connectivity Day each quarter this school year. The next one will be held on Tuesday, December 16.

Criminal Justice Students Host Coffee with a Cop

Boone High School’s Criminal Justice Program sophomores recently took the lead in planning and coordinating a successful Coffee with a Cop event. The gathering welcomed available freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from the Criminal Justice Magnet Program and provided a meaningful opportunity for students to engage directly with members of the Orlando Police Department (OPD).

The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to foster open dialogue and build trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve. By sharing coffee and conversation, students and officers were able to discuss important topics, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of one another’s perspectives.
This event reflects Boone’s commitment to civic engagement and real-world learning experiences for our students.

We are deeply grateful for OPD’s partnership and support in making this event possible.
